Nike "On Air" is the annual Nike competition that allows independent designers to recreate iconic models from the Swoosh brand. One of the flagship models of this program is the Nike Air Max 98 La Mezcla created by Gabrielle Serrano, aka Queen Leo.
The artist says he was inspired by the excitement of New York City to create this more than original pair! Culturally diverse, the pair, like the city itself, adopts a complex and colorful visual. This Nike Air Max 98 La Mezcla is composed of a base playing on beige and black gradients. All combined with off-white elements and crackle-print leather in reference to the city's concrete. The green details evoke the Statue of Liberty and the touch of blue symbolizes the Hudson River. As a final signature, we find the geographical coordinates of NYC: latitude 40° 42' 51 N and longitude -74° 0' 21 W, on the inside of the model.
